A note from the MTF Membership director headerDear Michigan Theater Foundation Member,

It’s that time of year when many of us start to feel the disappointment of summer ending and the approach of the school year and fall, and I know we’re feeling it even more so this year.

I’ve always adored the fall as it comes with a lot of cherished family traditions. Sunday drives with my daughters to enjoy the splendor of Michigan foliage—we live in such a pretty state! While at the Michigan and State, September brings the excitement of many new films opening in the lead up to award season, my 10-year-old is always thrilled about the return of her TV shows and discovering new ones. And of course, the entire family is excited about weekend football parties with family and friends. Yes, autumn will be different this year, especially in this Big Ten college town, but we can still make the best of it!

A new summer family tradition that my household will definitely carry into the fall is picking a new movie each Friday night to watch from the MTF Virtual Movie Palace. From stunning documentaries about the greatest underwater photographer, rockstars, and politicians, to foreign and U.S. narratives about issues and stories both new and familiar, these nights have opened up a whole new world for my family, especially for my oldest daughter. I hope these virtual offerings have brought the same moments of laughter, discovery, and understanding into your homes too.

As summer changes to fall, and we all continue to feel the “temporary absences” of 2020, please know that all of us at the Michigan Theater Foundation are thinking of you and working on ways to bring the familiarity of the Michigan and State to you.  If you need assistance with anything or have questions about your membership or just want to say hello, please contact me at any time, aduncan@michtheater.org

Until next time, stay safe.
